Career Summary

Atlanta United selected Miles Robinson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, making him the first SuperDraft pick in club history. He made his club debut in the U.S. Open Cup against Charleston Battery in 2017 and made his MLS debut on April 7, 2018. Robinson went on to make 12 appearances and four starts in 2018 across the Regular Season and MLS Cup Playoffs as Atlanta won MLS Cup.

Robinson enjoyed a breakout year in 2019, playing in all 34 MLS games and making 33 starts. His 2,978 minutes set a new club record for most minutes played by an outfield player in a single season. His play earned him MLS Best XI accolades for the first time and a call-up to the USMNT. He made his debut for the senior team on Sept. 6, 2019 as a second-half substitute against Mexico.

The center back has made 15 appearances and scored three goals with the USMNT. In 2021, Robinson started all six matches and scored two goals at the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup where he helped the U.S. secure five clean sheets and scored the game-winning goal in the final as the U.S. beat Mexico 1-0. He became a regular member of the U.S. back line and started six matches in World Cup Qualifying. He was nominated for the 2021 U.S. Soccer Young Player of the Year award.

Robinson started 25 of his 26 MLS appearances in 2021 and was named to his first MLS All-Star team and second MLS Best XI in addition to being a finalist for Defender of the Year. The 24-year-old ranked second in MLS in duel success rate (min. 100 duels) at 66.83 %. He scored his first career MLS goal on Decision Day against FC Cincinnati.

Part of the 2017 Generation Adidas class, Robinson was a two-year starter for Syracuse University where he was named the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year. While at Syracuse, Robinson scored eight goals in two years and picked up honors for ACC All-Freshman Team, ACC All-Tournament Team and All-ACC First Team.

2022 (Atlanta United): Started nine of his 10 appearances across all competitions. MLS: Robinson started eight of his nine MLS appearances in 2022, logging 660 minutes. Suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left leg during 4-1 win vs. Chicago Fire FC on May 7 that would end his season. U.S. Open Cup: Captained the side for the first time in U.S. Open Cup match against Chattanooga FC on April 20.

2021 (Atlanta United): Robinson started 25 of his 26 MLS appearances in 2021. Named to MLS Best XI for the second time. Made first MLS All-Star Team. Finalist for Defender of the Year. Recorded his first career MLS assist on May 29 against Nashville SC. Scored his first career MLS goal on Nov. 7 at FC Cincinnati. 2020 (Atlanta United): Robinson started 16 of his 17 MLS appearances and logged 1,393 minutes. Concacaf Champions League: Started Atlanta’s second leg quarterfinal match and helped the team keep a clean sheet in the 1-0 win against Club América.

2019 (Atlanta United): Robinson enjoyed a breakout year in MLS playing in all 34 games and making 33 starts. 2018 (Atlanta United): Made his MLS debut on Apr. 7 in 5-0 win against LAFC. Finished the regular season with 10 appearances, including three starts along the Atlanta United back line. Played 272 total minutes, committing only two fouls. MLS Cup Playoffs: Started the second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals and helped Atlanta United win 3-1 vs. NYCFC to advance. US Open Cup: Started and played the full 90 minutes for Atlanta against Charleston Battery (June 6) and Chicago Fire (June 20). USL: Gained valuable playing time and experience in ATL UTD 2’s inaugural season. He started and played 13 matches, logging over 1,000 minutes of playing time. Scored a game-tying goal on Oct. 6 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

2017 (Atlanta United): Did not feature for Atlanta in league play but appeared six times and made five starts with USL-affiliate Charleston Battery where he scored one goal. US Open Cup: Started for Atlanta against Charleston Battery on June 14.

2016 (Syracuse): Robinson started and played in 17 matches, scoring four goals and registering one assist. He was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, along with an All-ACC First Team selection. Robinson was fifth on the team in points (9) and tied for third in goals (4). He helped the Orange record 11 shutouts. Robinson recorded two goals in the double-overtime victory against St. John’s (Sept. 4) for the first multiple-goal game of his career. Syracuse reached the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament.

2015 (Syracuse): Robinson played in 25 matches during his freshman season, starting all of them, and led Syracuse to the Semifinals of the 2015 NCAA College Cup. He earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors and was named to the ACC All-Tournament Team. Robinson and the Syracuse defense posted nine shutouts. He was tied for third on the team in goals (4). Three of his goals came off headers, including his goal against Seattle in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. Robinson posted his first career goal against Wake Forest (Sept. 19), and he scored again in the next match against Binghamton (Sept. 22).

YOUTH: A native of Arlington, Mass., Robinson played youth soccer with FC Bolts Celtic where he was a four-year starting center back. Robinson was named to the U-15 and U-16 All-Eastern Conference Starting XI and was dubbed team captain his senior year.

INTERNATIONAL: Robinson has represented the U.S. at the U-20, U-23 and senior team level. He has 15 caps and three goals with the USMNT, earning his senior team debut on Sept. 6, 2019 coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Mexico. Robinson made his first start and scored his first international goal in a 7-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago on Jan. 31, 2021. Robinson made two appearances with the U-23's and was called into the final preparation camp in January 2021 for head coach Jason Kreis before 2021 Olympic Qualifying. He made 11 appearances at the U-20 level and started all three games in the U-20’s run to win the 2016 NTC Invitational title against Costa Rica (June 29), Panama (July 1) and Japan (July 3) held in Carson, California. Robinson also started in two matches in the 2016 Four Nations Tournament in Manchester, England against Netherlands (Oct. 7) and England (Oct. 10).
