KISSIMMEE, Fla. (May 25, 2025) - Atlanta United 2 defeated Orlando City B 3-0 on a rainy Sunday night at Osceola Heritage Park. Cayman Togashi scored twice and Gabriel Wesseh scored his third goal of the season as the 5-Stripes extended its unbeaten streak to five games. Academy goalkeeper Jonathan Ransom made his season debut and kept the team's second clean sheet of the year.
Atlanta started fast, scoring the opener in the fourth minute. Orlando's defense held possession in its own half when goalkeeper Carlos Mercado passed the ball straight to Wesseh toward the right flank. The 17-year old chipped Mercado from 30 yards out into an open net to take the lead.
Orlando had an opportunity to equalize in the 25th minute. Zakaria Taifi placed a corner kick toward the back post and Shawn Platts met the ball, but his header went over the top of a stretched Ransom for a goal kick.
Javier Armas tried his luck in the 31st minute. The Spaniard took a touch centrally, 25 yards from goal and curled a right-footed shot on frame, but Mercado quickly reacted to push the ball away. Armas had a second opportunity 10 minutes later, but his free kick struck the outside of the right post and bounced away from goal.
Togashi joined the score sheet on the stroke of halftime. Sal Mazzaferro played a deep ball from his own half to Dominik Chong Qui on the left wing. The Homegrown headed the ball toward a streaking Togashi, who muscled off a defender and poked the ball past Mercado to double Atlanta's lead.
Togashi nearly scored his second in the 57th minute. Ransom played a deep ball to Togashi, landing five yards outside of Orlando's box. The Japanese forward took a touch around Mercado far off his line and attempted to chip the ball into the net, but an Orlando defender slid to clear it off the line.
Atlanta put a third on the board in the 68th minute. Cooper Sanchez won the ball in the midfield and dribbled up the pitch quickly before finding Togashi to his right. At the top of the box Togashi spun around his defender, took a touch toward goal and fired a driven strike into the bottom-left corner to score his second and cap off a dominant win for the 5-Stripes.
