KENNESAW, Ga. (Aug. 17, 2025) - Atlanta United 2 earned a cagey 1-0 win against Crown Legacy on a cool night at Fifth Third Stadium. Patrick Weah scored his fourth goal of the season as Atlanta earns its third clean sheet of the season and back-to-back wins for the first time in 2025.
The first half was tight between the teams, with neither team allowing the other much room to operate offensively. Crown Legacy's best opportunity came off a counter attack in the 19th minute. Emmanuel Uchegbu dribbled into the box and chipped the ball from the right into Brian Romero six yards from goal, but Nyk Sessock defended him tightly and the header landed comfortably in the hands of Josh Cohen.
Atlanta nearly had the opener in the 42nd minute. Gabriel Wesseh curled a left-footed cross in from a set piece and Toto Majub got on the end of it, but his header rattled the top-corner of the framework and a Crown Legacy defender sent it away. Both sides went into halftime scoreless, with Atlanta having two shots on target to Crown Legacy's one.
The second half opened up more for both sides, and Atlanta had an incredible sequence in the 57th minute. Santiago Pita brilliantly dribbled 40 yards toward goal, snaking around four defenders before touching the ball to substitute Moises Tablante at the top of the box. The Venezuelan touched it to Cayman Togashi who tried his luck, but the ball was saved off the line by a sliding Jahlane Forbes. Tablante attempted the rebound but it was saved by Chituru Odunze.
In the 72nd minute, Weah and Cooper Sanchez subbed into the game and made an impact seven minutes later with a goal. Sanchez won the ball in the midfield and played a long ball for Wesseh on the right wing, who touched it down and dribbled dangerously into the box. After getting to the endline, Wesseh cut it back for a streaking Weah to tap in the go-ahead goal. Crown Legacy pushed for an equalizer into stoppage time but the 5-Stripes held strong to earn their third clean sheet of the season and fifth win.
