FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (April 10, 2026) - Atlanta United 2 earned a 2-0 win over Inter Miami CF II on Friday at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. James Donaldson made his first professional appearance and start, becoming the youngest goalkeeper to earn a clean sheet in team history, and Cameron Dunbar scored his first goal as an ATL UTD 2 player in the victory.

The first moment of the game came in the 4th minute, when Miami left winger Diego Rey was set free on Donaldson’s goal with a deep ball over the top of the ATL UTD 2 defense. However, Donaldson was able to get down on the ensuing near-post shot and push it out of play for his first ever professional save.

By the end of the first 10 minutes, Donaldson had made three saves, providing stability to the 5-Stripes defense.

In the 15th minute, Atlanta capitalized through Arif Kovac’s first goal of 2026. Ignacio Suarez-Couri flicked a lofted pass with his right toe into the path of Kovac, who was charging into the box ahead of his defender. Kovac’s initial shot on goal was saved by Miami goalkeeper Matias Marin, but the rebound ricocheted high in the air, setting up Kovac to put the ball into the net with a simple header.

At the end of the half, Atlanta nearly doubled its lead. In the 45th minute, Dominik Chong Qui whipped in a curved cross from just outside the left side of the box, which found the feet of Cameron Dunbar standing alone at the far post. However, Marin quickly dove to cover the open space in his goal and saved the shot off the line to keep the score at 1-0.

In the 53rd minute, ATL UTD 2 found the elusive second goal. Kovac and Dunbar formed a two-versus-one attack, baring toward the Inter Miami goal. Kovac, drawing the defender to him, slotted a forward pass into space for Dunbar, who entered the box and beat the goalkeeper with a left-footed chip shot to extend the lead.

Over the next 20 minutes, Atlanta established dominance, nearly finding another goal on multiple occasions as it generated nine more shots on target.

In the 85th minute, Daniel Chica was sent off. After unintentionally taking a ball down out of the air with his hand just outside of the penalty area, the referee presented Chica with a second yellow card. The ensuing free kick from Miami midfielder Jo Jo Convers crashed off Donaldson’s top crossbar and went out of play, and ATL UTD 2 was able to see out its 2-0 victory.

Atlanta United 2 (3-2-1, 10 points) returns to action Saturday, April 18, when it travels to Bridgeview to face Chicago Fire II at SeatGeek Stadium (4 p.m. ET, MLSNEXTPro.com, OneFootball App, Soccer Down Here).
