The match, originally Sept. 24 at Fifth Third Stadium, was abandoned due to inclement weather in the 71st minute and resumed at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground on Oct. 2. Atlanta now sits one point off of a playoff spot heading into Decision Day.

From the match restart in the 71st minute, Atlanta pinned Chattanooga in its own half with multiple chances to equalize. Its best chance came through Toto Majub. The Ugandan received the ball ten yards away from goal, but his shot struck the upright and bounced out.

In second half stoppage time, Ryan Carmichael had Atlanta's final chance. Javier Armas switched the ball across for Gabriel Wesseh on the right, who took a touch into space and played a ball into the box. Patrick Weah met it at the back post and headed it centrally for Carmichael, but his shot was saved by Eldin Jakupović.

In the 70 minutes played on Sept. 24, Atlanta had a majority of the chances, but it was Chattanooga with the lone goal in the 11th minute. Colin Thomas received the ball on the left side and played a square ball across to Daniel Mangarov, who took a quick touch and fired a left-footed shot off the bar and in.

Atlanta's best opportunity in the first 70 minutes came after earning a free kick in the 26th minute. Wesseh played Santiago Pita who was 30 yards from goal. The Venezuelan curled the ball in for Sal Mazzaferro one-on-one with Jakupović, but the header was cleared away after the kick save.

Atlanta will have a chance to qualify for playoffs in the final game of the season, with seventh and eighth place both within reach on Decision Day.
