In ATL UTD 2's last match on Thursday, June 15, the team picked up a point in a 2-2 draw against Columbus Crew 2. Columbus secured the extra point after the 6-5 shootout victory. Nick Firmino and Jackson Conway each scored while Luke Brennan recorded two assists on the evening. Meanwhile, Adyn Torres made his professional debut when the former Academy player came on as a substitute in the 86th minute, and goalkeeper Justin Garces made his first appearance of the season after recovering from an ACL injury he suffered last year.

The team captain continues to be a leader on the defensive end for ATL UTD 2 with a league-leading 47 interceptions having started 13 of the 14 games he's played. In his last game versus Columbus, the 26-year-old defenseman from Ghana made a number of crucial blocks in front of goal that kept Crew 2 from scoring.


The Atlanta United Academy player from Brookwood High School filled in for Fuad Adeniyi who was injured in the previous meeting vs. Toronto FC II. Having started in two of his last three matches, Okunlola has done well to stop attacks from the wing with five tackles on 27 duels in 196 minutes played.


In the last meeting between the two teams, Atlanta United 2 defeated Toronto FC II 2-0 on Sunday, May 28 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. With an own goal from Toronto's keeper and Karim Tmimi scoring his fifth goal of the season, Atlanta secured three points at home against Toronto. Fuad Adeniyi recorded his first assist of the season in that match.


Atlanta enters its match on Sunday with a 5-5-4-1 (W-L-T-SOW) record, currently in third place in the Central Division and seventh in the Eastern Conference with 20 points.
