ATL UTD 2 is owned and operated by AMB Sports & Entertainment and is the MLS Next Pro team of Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United. ATL UTD 2 joined USL for their expansion 2018 season and moved to MLS Next Pro prior to the 2023 season, and play their home matches at Fifth Third Bank Stadium at Kennesaw State University.
"ATL UTD 2 is a vital piece of our club's strategy to connect our Academy teams to our First Team," Atlanta United Director of Methodology Javier Pérez said. "This team gives us the ability to integrate our Academy players into an environment to challenge them and enrich their career and give First Team players the ability to stay match fit throughout the season when returning from injury, while also upholding our competitive standard throughout the pathway to the professional level."
