Match Preview: Atlanta United 2 vs Bethlehem Steel FC

Atlanta United 2 returns to action on Wednesday, July 11 when it hosts Bethlehem Steel FC at Coolray Field. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. EST and will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Atlanta United 2 was defeated 6-1 by New York Red Bulls II Friday night at MSU Soccer Park. Despite the tough result, goalkeeper Paul Christensen made a career-high six saves.

Bethlehem Steel FC saw its season-long five-match unbeaten streak come to an end on the road, falling at rival Penn FC, 3-2 on Friday, July 6. Leading-scorer Fabian Herbers put Bethlehem up 1-0 in the 17th minute, but Penn quickly took control with goals from Frederick Opoku and Luck Mkosana in the 20th and 25th minutes, respectively. Isaac Osae extended Penn’s lead in the 55th, while Herbers scored his second of the night in the 82nd to finish the scoring.

Wednesday’s match marks the first meeting between the two teams and it will be Atlanta’s first home match since June 16 versus Ottawa Fury FC which was abandoned in the 44th minute due to inclement weather.
