Acquired August 8, 2017 from D.C. United in exchange for a 3rd Round Draft Pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.

Boswell, 34, has 365 career MLS appearances and 360 starts between two stints with D.C. United and Houston Dynamo. In his 12-year career, Boswell has only missed MLS Cup Playoffs one time. He’s a two-time MLS Best XI selection (2006 and 2014), two-time Supporters’ Shield winner (2006 and 2007) and was the 2006 MLS Defender of the Year. He’s also appeared in two MLS Cups with Houston in 2011 and 2012. Internationally, Boswell has made three appearances for the U.S. Men’s National Team.

He’s been with D.C. United since the 2014 season where he was picked up in the Re-Entry Draft from Houston Dynamo. Prior to that, he anchored Houston’s defense from 2008-2013, helping the Dynamo reach MLS Cup Playoffs in five of those seasons. Before Houston, Boswell started his career with D.C. United in 2005 despite not being selected in that year’s MLS SuperDraft. In three seasons during his first stint with D.C. United, they won two Supporters’ Shields and one Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

2016 (D.C. United): D.C. United’s captain surpassed numerous milestones in 2016 en route to his fifth straight season of at least 30 appearances. Boswell became only the third player in MLS history to start 350 regular season matches on Oct. 16, behind Steve Ralston and Kyle Beckerman. Earlier in the year, the center back also hit the 350 appearances mark and surpassed 30,000 minutes played on 6/18 against his former team, the Houston Dynamo. He scored his first goal of the season (and the club’s 1,000th of all-time) in dramatic fashion, heading in the game-tying goal against the Chicago Fire on 9/16. PLAYOFFS: Boswell played all 90 minutes in D.C. United’s Knockout Round loss to Montreal Impact.

2015 (D.C. United): Boswell started 33 of 34 regular season games, leading the team and third in MLS in minutes played (2,795). He made his 300th MLS appearance against Sporting Kansas City on May 9, and during the season became fifth all-time among field players in MLS starts and minutes played. Boswell scored the game-tying goal in a 2-1 win at Vancouver on April 25 and in a 4-0 win over Chicago on Oct. 18. PLAYOFFS: Boswell played all 90 minutes in two matches. D.C. lost to New York Red Bulls in the Conference Semifinals.

2014 (D.C. United): Boswell returned to D.C., where he began his MLS career, after six seasons in Houston. Boswell was named team captain and the team’s Defender of the Year, selected to the MLS All-Star Game, named to the MLS Best XI and as a finalist for MLS Defender of the Year. He finished with one goal and three assists, starting a career-high 34 games – one of only three field players in MLS to start every regular season match – for a Black-and-Red defense that finished tied for first in goals against average (1.09) and allowed the fewest goals at home in MLS en route to the top seed in the Eastern Conference in the 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs. PLAYOFFS: Boswell started both matches and played all 90 minutes. D.C. United lost to New York Red Bulls in the Conference Semifinals.

2013 (Houston Dynamo): Boswell made the MLS Team of the Week twice (Weeks 1, 10). Besides a two-game suspension in mid-May, he played every game of the 2013 season. He made his 200th MLS appearance vs. D.C. United on May 12. He made his 150th Dynamo appearance in all competitions in a 2-0 loss at Seattle on March 23, becoming the fifth Dynamo to reach 150. Boswell did not appear in Open Cup play, but appeared in all four matches of SuperLiga play, making two starts. He played the final 21 minutes of a 4-0 Dynamo Charities Cup win vs. Aguila on June 19.

2009 (Houston Dynamo): Boswell started 29 of 30 games at center back for the Dynamo. His play helped Houston tie for the league's lowest goals-against total. CONCACAF Champions League: Boswell scored the first goal of Dynamo's 2009 season with a header in the first leg of the quarterfinal vs. Atlante on Feb. 24. In ’09-’10 Champions League play, Boswell appeared in five games, making three starts. In the Open Cup, Boswell wore the captain's armband for the first time and marshaled the back line to a 2-0 shutout win at Austin on July 1. He again served as captain and scored a goal in a 4-0 quarterfinal win at Charleston on July 7. PLAYOFFS: Marking his fifth-consecutive trip to the MLS Cup Playoffs, Boswell started all three matches before Houston lost to LA Galaxy in the Conference Finals.
