Career Summary

Metcalf joined Atlanta United 2 in its inaugural 2018 season and served as the team’s captain. He spent 2017 with Bangor City of the Welsh Premier League. Metcalf signed with Colorado Rapid’s USL affiliate, Charlotte Independence, in February 2015 after trialing with several clubs in England. At the youth level, Metcalf played with Liverpool F.C. and Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. before playing collegiately at Clemson University.

2018 (ATL UTD 2): Serving as the team’s inaugural captain, Metcalf finished first on the team in appearances (31) and second in starts (28) and minutes played (2,445). He recorded one assist and led the club in chances created with 39.

2017 (Bangor City): Metcalf made his Welsh Premier League debut in a 4-2 loss to Airbus UK Broughton (Jan. 14) before being subbed off in the 55th minute, his only regular season appearance in 2017. Made two appearances in the Welsh Premier League Championship Round, subbed in during the 46th minute against Bala Town (Feb. 4) and 10th minute against Connah’s Quay (Feb. 10).

2016 (Charlotte Independence): Made seven starts in 22 appearances. Logged 35 minutes in a quarter-final loss to Rochester in the USL Playoffs.

2015 (Charlotte Independence): Played 567 minutes in 19 appearances, had one shot on goal. US Open Cup: Played 90 minutes and recorded an assist in a 4-1 win over the Upward Stars (May 21).

2013 (Clemson): Started in 19 matches on his way to a Third-Team All-ACC Selection. Tallied three assists on the season, tied for second on the 2013 squad. Assisted Ara Amirkhanian on his goal in the USC Upstate match (Sept. 24). Had an assist against Furman on Oct. 15 against the 17th-ranked Paladins. Assisted Thales Moreno on his goal in the NCAA Tournament against Elon (Nov. 21).

2012 (Clemson): Appeared in 16 games making 15 starts. Took seven shots, two of which were on goal.

2011 (Clemson): Started in 16 matches for the Tigers. Tied for the team lead in assists with five. Assisted on both of Brynjar Benediktsson's goals in the Tigers 2-0 win over Gardner-Webb (Sept. 27). Had an assist in the Furman match on Oct. 18. Had an assist in Clemson's win over Adelphi. Also assisted on Austin Savage's goal in the Tigers 1-1 tie with East Tennessee State (Oct. 24).

2010 (Clemson): Played and started in 16 matches. Scored one goal against Charlotte (Sept. 28). Added one assist against fourth-ranked Maryland (Oct. 16) in College Park, MD.

2009 (Wolverhampton F.C. U-23): Made five appearances for 404 minutes.

INTERNATIONAL: Member of the U-16 National Team Camp in England.

PERSONAL: 1. Grew up in Liverpool, England. 2. I signed for Liverpool FC Academy at 10 years old and continued to play for them into the youth team at age 16/17. At 17 I signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and played for their Reserve side. I then went on to play at Clemson University from 2010-2013. 3. My wife’s name is Katie, parents are Gary and Sue and I have an older brother named Chris. My dog is Nyla she is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. 4. Some of my favorite hobbies outside of soccer are taking my dog for long walks and hunting out some cool coffee shops.
