Career Summary

Nicklaw, 28, joins ATL UTD 2 after playing professionally in Iceland, Denmark and in the United States. He is a veteran of the NASL and USL, carrying more than 100 appearances across all competitions in the United States’ second divisions. The offensive-minded right back has 24 caps with the Guam national team which he has represented since 2012. Nicklaw was a standout at the University of Connecticut from 2007-10.

2017 (FC Edmonton): Nicklaw started 29 matches between the Spring and Fall seasons. Canadian Championship: Nicklaw made two starts, both against Ottawa Fury in the qualification round. Edmonton lost both legs, 0-1 and 2-3.

2016 (FC Edmonton): Nicklaw transferred to FC Edmonton ahead of the NASL Fall season where he made 19 appearances and recorded two assists. Nicklaw provided the game-tying assist in a 2-2 draw at Ottawa Fury (September 3), and the game-winning assist in stoppage time of a 2-1 victory against Indy Eleven (October 2). NASL Playoffs: Nicklaw started in Edmonton’s 1-0 semi-final loss against Indy Eleven.

2016 (Jacksonville Armada): Nicklaw made six league appearances in the NASL Spring season. U.S. Open Cup: Nicklaw played all 120 minutes in Jacksonville’s 2-1 extra time win over Charleston Battery (June 2).

2015 (Jacksonville Armada): Nicklaw again returned to the U.S., this time in the North American Soccer League with expansion side Jacksonville Armada. He made 21 league appearances between the Fall and Spring seasons and recorded one assist. U.S. Open Cup: Nicklaw started and played all 90 minutes in Jacksonville’s 3-0 loss in the third round to Richmond Kickers (May 28).

2014 (Thór): Nicklaw transferred to Icelandic Premier League club Thór in April 2014. He made 16 league appearances with the club and scored a career-high three goals. He scored in his debut match with Thór against UMF Stjarnan Gardabaer (May 18) in a 3-4 loss. Nicklaw tallied his second score against KR Reykjavík (July 10) and his third against UMF Stjarnan Gardabaer (August 11).

2013 (Wilmington Hammerheads): Nicklaw returned to the U.S. and signed with the Wilmington Hammerheads of USL Pro. He made 21 league appearances and scored one goal while adding four assists. Nicklaw provided the game-winning assist in his debut with Wilmington in a 2-0 win against Barracuda FC (April 20). His first professional goal came in a 1-2 loss against VSI Tampa Bay FC (July 27). Nicklaw recorded an assist in the next two matches, both wins against Charleston Battery (August 3) and Dayton Dutch Lions (August 5). He recorded a point in three consecutive matches and in four out of five games from July 27 to August 15. U.S. Open Cup: Nicklaw made two appearances, both starts, against Austin Aztex (May 22) in a 2-0 win in the second round, and against Portland Timbers (May 30) in a 5-1 loss in the third round.

2012/13 (HB Køge): Nicklaw made his professional debut with Køge in Denmark’s Superliga on July 29, starting at right back and playing all 90 minutes in a 1-1 tie against Vejle Boldklub Kolding. Nicklaw made seven appearances across all competitions.

COLLEGE: Nicklaw played 80 matches, scored two goals and recorded seven assists over his four years as a starter at the University of Connecticut.

INTERNATIONAL: Nicklaw has represented Guam since 2012 and scored his first international goal in the first preliminary round of the 2015 EAFF East Asian Cup, in a 5-0 win over the Northern Mariana Islands. He later helped Guam to historic consecutive wins during 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification, starting in the 1-0 win over Turkmenistan (June 11, 2015) and a few days later assisting his brother, Travis Nicklaw, score the game-winning goal over India in a 2-1 victory (June 16, 2015).
