Career Summary

Samuel returns to ATL UTD 2 for his second season with the club. I 2018, Samuel scored the club’s inaugural goal while making 12 starts over 15 appearances. He joined ATL UTD 2 from Bethlehem Steel FC, Philadelphia Union’s USL affiliate, where he spent two seasons. A graduate of the Union’s academy, Samuel played two seasons in Philadelphia’s academy with the U-18 club where he scored 10 goals in 37 appearances. Samuel was born in Ethiopia but is a native of Atlanta after moving to the U.S. in 2007.

2018 (ATL UTD 2): Yosef Samuel made 15 appearances and 12 starts. He scored one goal, the inaugural goal for ATL UTD 2 against New York Red Bulls II in a 3-1 win (3/24). Samuel also recorded one assist.

2017 (Bethlehem Steel): Samuel made 20 appearances, starting five matches, for a total of 533 minutes with an assist. Samuel made his 2017 debut as a substitute against Orlando City B on April 23 and appeared at FC Cincinnati on April 29. He earned his first professional start against Charleston on May 25. He followed up the start with his first career assist against Harrisburg on May 28, coming on as a second-half sub and connecting on the game-winning goal. He played a career-high 64 minutes in a start at Saint Loius FC on June 11.

2016 (Bethlehem Steel): Samuel signed his first professional contract with Steel FC after graduating from Philadelphia Union Academy. Samuel made his club debut on Sept. 25 against Orlando City B, coming off the bench and playing for 29 minutes.

Youth Experience:

2014-16 (Philadelphia Union academy): Samuel spent two seasons with the Philadelphia Union Academy U18 club after moving from Atlanta in 2014. Samuel scored 10 goals in 37 total appearances for the U18 squad and made 26 starts.

INTERNATIONAL: Samuel has earned callups with the United States Men’s Nation Team U20 squad, most recently in April 2017 where Samuel trained with the team in London, England.
