Atlanta United 2 defeats Toronto FC II 2-0

Atlanta United 2 defeated Toronto FC II 2-0 Sunday at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Karim Tmimi scored his fifth goal of the season to help Atlanta secure three points, while Fuad Adeniyi recorded his first assist of the season.

Atlanta opened the scoring in the 29th minute off an own goal from Toronto's goalkeeper Luka Gavran. Aiden McFadden dribbled the ball down the right wing and sent a looping cross towards Nick Firmino inside the box. Gavran came out of goal to try to control the cross with outstretched arms, but the keeper fumbled his attempt and knocked the ball into the net for the first goal of the evening.

Tmimi doubled Atlanta's lead in the 49th minute on a assist from Adeniyi. The play started from a free kick taken by Noah Cobb near midfield as the Homegrown defender played Erik Centeno down the left sideline before he dumped it off to Adeniyi making a run towards the left edge of the box. Adeniyi sent a low cross towards Tmimi just outside the six-yard box, and the striker one-timed his shot with his left foot into the back of the net.

Toronto had a couple of chances late, with the best chance coming in the 75th minute. Julian Altobelli struck a shot from inside the box wide right. Atlanta was able to hold Toronto without a shot on goal to secure the team's third clean sheet of the year.
