Atlanta United 2 Signs Forward Caio Assis

ATLANTA (Aug. 19, 2026) — Atlanta United 2 today announced it has signed forward Caio Assis from América FC U-20 to a contract through the 2027-28 MLS NEXT Pro season with an option for the 2028-29 season.

The 18-year-old was a standout center forward for local academies in Fortaleza before joining América FC U-17 in May 2025. After scoring seven goals in his first eight appearances for the team, Caio earned a professional contract with América FC, resulting in his promotion to the U-20 side in August. For the U-20 side in 2025, Caio scored three goals in nine appearances across all competitions and helped his side win the Campeonato Potiguar U-20 title in October. In January 2026, Caio scored five goals in six appearances for América FC U-20 at the São Paulo Junior Football Cup. He finishes his América FC youth career with 15 goals scored in 23 appearances.
