Atlanta is the opening venue for the Copa América USA 2024

Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home to Major League Soccer's Atlanta United, will be the venue for the opening match of the Copa América 2024, to be held in the United States. The opening match between title holders Argentina and Canada is Thursday, June 20, marking the start of the 48th edition of the world's oldest soccer competition for National Teams.

Format

  • The tournament is an official FIFA-sanctioned competition.
  • Copa América is organized by CONMEBOL, the South American Football Confederation.
  • The six CONCACAF (North, Central America and the Caribbean) teams are invited to this edition of the competition.
  • This is the second time Copa América is hosted in the United States, after the Centennial edition in 2016.

Group Stage

  • There will be four groups of four teams each.
  • The top two teams will advance to the next round.
  • The first match of the tournament will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Quarterfinals

  • Two teams from each group will be seeded into the Quarterfinals, for a total of four matches.

Semifinals

  • The teams that win in the Quarterfinals will advance to the Semifinals, for a total of two matches.

Third Place

  • The teams that lose in the semifinals will play in a third place match.

Final

  • The two teams that win their Semifinal match will advance to the Grand Final, to be played in Miami.
