Atlanta United's number 10 earned a spot in the MLS Team of the Week after another stellar performance in Utah helping the expansion side defeat Real Salt Lake 3-1.
Miguel Almirón was involved in all three of Atlanta United's goals. First, finding his way in behind the RSL back line and forcing a save from goalkeeper Nick Rimando which then fell to Tito Villalba to finish. He then dispossessed RSL defender Chris Wingert in his own half and set up ATL UTD teammate Yamil Asad for an easy second. Though not recording the assist or tally on the third goal of the night, along with Brandon Vazquez, he also made a darting run toward the RSL back line, drawing focus away from the 18-year-old which then left Vazquez unmarked and in behind the defense to seal the victory.
Apart from his role in Atlanta's scoring, the 23-year-old Paraguayan was all over the pitch creating space and moving the ball in possession as well as spoiling multiple attacks on the defensive side of the ball.
