KENNESAW, Ga. (Sept. 29, 2021) – Atlanta United 2 played to a 1-1 draw against Louisville City FC in its final home match of the season at Fifth Third Bank Stadium Wednesday night. Josh Bauer scored his first professional goal while Aiden McFadden recorded his third assist of the season.

Atlanta jumped out to a quick start and saw the first opportunity on goal in the first minute. Darwin Matheus played a ball over the top to David Mejia, and the Academy product tried to curl a shot to the back post, but it went wide.

Atlanta eventually broke through in the 40th minute from a free kick won by Bradley Kamdem Fewo on the left flank, near the edge of the box. McFadden served a bending ball into the far post, where Bauer volleyed it first-time into goal.

Rocco Ríos Novo came up with a crucial reaction save to deny a header from Sean Totsch in the 43rd minute. However, LouCity leveled the game in the 51st minute from a corner kick. Niall McCabe played the ball in to the back post, where Cameron Lancaster buried the ball with a header.

McFadden nearly found the game winner in stoppage time. The Pennsylvania native gained possession from a blocked shot at the top of the 18 and set up his left foot to curl a shot to the upper-left corner, but the goalkeeper made the save to keep the game even.

ATL UTD 2 (7-12-9, 30 points) will return to action against Indy Eleven on Oct. 2 at Michael A. Carroll Stadium (ESPN+, 7:00 p.m. ET).
