Atlanta United 2 fell 3-1 to Detroit City at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, Michigan on Saturday evening.

Detroit opened the scoring in the 13th minute. The run of Deklan Wynne was found by a long diagonal pass from defender Stephen Carroll. Wynne and Pato Botello Faz created a two-on-one opportunity for Detroit City against ATL UTD 2 goalkeeper Vicente Reyes before Wynne sent the ball across the penalty area for a tap-in from Pato.

Antoine Hoppenot doubled the host’s advantage in the 32nd minute. The Frenchman took advantage of a loose touch from Reyes off a Bryce Washington back pass before scoring his fifth goal of the season.

Nelson Orji got Atlanta back into the match in the 44th minute with his first goal as a professional. After Aiden McFadden earned Atlanta a free kick on the left flank, Robbie Mertz sent a perfect ball to the back post for Orji to head past Nathan Steinwascher.

Detroit City took a 3-1 lead in the 49th minute off a goal from Maxi Rodriguez. Rodriguez got the move started by sending the ball to the right side for Hoppenot, who would send the ball across for Pato. Instead of taking the shot himself, Pato dummied the ball to create an open-goal opportunity for Rodriguez to score.

Atlanta was reduced to 10 men after Efrain Morales earned a second yellow card in the 64th minute.

ATL UTD 2 (2-8-0, 6 points) returns home to Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia on Friday, May 27 to face off against reigning USLC champions Orange County SC (7:30 p.m., ESPN+).
