Atlanta United 2 lost 4-1 to Louisville City FC Saturday night at Coolray Field. Romario Williams scored his second goal of the season with ATL UTD 2.

Atlanta dictated the opening quarter of the match and nearly found the game’s breakthrough in the 19th minute after Laurent Kissiedou drew a foul just outside of the 18-yard-box on the left side. Williams struck a free kick aimed at the far post, but goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski made a diving save to keep the match scoreless.

Louisville broke the deadlock off a corner kick in the 24th minute. Oscar Jimenez’s kick took a deflection at the near post before bouncing off AJ Cochran and into the net for an own-goal. The defending USL champions doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Kyle Smith scored from the right side of the box with a left-footed shot into the upper-left corner.

George Davis IV extended Louisville’s lead in the 41st minute after heading home a Brian Ownby cross. ATL UTD 2 fell behind 4-0 in the 69th minute after another own goal from a corner kick by Louisville.

Williams pulled one back for Atlanta in the 71st minute. After a turnover in midfield, Jack Metcalf played a long ball behind the Louisville defense which Williams tracked down. After faking to his right and cutting the ball back on his left, the Jamaican international took a touch inside the box before finishing with his left foot into bottom right corner. Metcalf was credited with the assist, his first of the season.

ATL UTD 2 (5-17-8, 23 points) returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 3 against Tampa Bay Rowdies at 7:00 p.m. EST at Coolray Field. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
