Atlanta United Acquires up to $375K in General Allocation Money from Toronto FC

ATLANTA ā€“ Atlanta United announced today it has acquired $200,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM) from Toronto FC in exchange for Derrick Etienne Jr. Atlanta could acquire up to an additional $175,000 in GAM if certain performance-based incentives are achieved. The trade was executed prior to Major League Soccerā€™s Primary Transfer Window deadline, which closed at 11:59 p.m. CT April 23.

ā€œWe want to thank Derrick for his time with the club and wish him the best of luck in his future,ā€ Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said. ā€œThis is a mutually beneficial trade that provides us flexibility to potentially strengthen the roster in the summer, while giving Derrick a fresh start in Toronto.ā€

In a subsequent roster move, Atlanta has moved Daniel RĆ­os from the Supplemental Roster to the Senior Roster.

Atlanta United (3-3-2, 11 points) returns to action when it travels to face Chicago Fire on Saturday, April 27 at Soldier Field (8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass, 92.9 The Game, La Mejor). All Atlanta United matches are available with an MLS Season Pass subscription, located on the Apple TV app.
