Atlanta United eSports' duo, Paulo Neto and Young, called-up to the Brazilian National Team, eSeleção

After a phenomenal start in 2023 Atlanta United's two eSports professional gamers, Paulo Neto and Young, have been called up to the Brazilian National eSports Team, nicknamed eSeleção.

Last Thursday the Brazilian FIFA 23 eSeleção announced the list of six gamers who will be coached by Gabriel Guimaraes Martins or Gabgol. The six gamers called up are Gabriel Crepaldi, Pedro Resende, Paulo Henrique “PHzin”, Klinger Castro, Paulo Neto and Gabriel Freitas “Young”.

Currently, the Brazilian eSports National Team is at the top of the world FIFA23 ranking, followed by Poland and Sweden. Last year, the eSeleção won the FIFAe Nations World Cup in Copenhaguen, Denmark, a 2v2 competition. Both Paulo and Young were also in Copenhaguen weeks prior as they participated in the 1v1 FIFAe World Cup, where Paulo reached the quarterfinals; Young was playing with SPQR Brazil at the time.

Paulo and Young join other important gamers in their National Team like Crepaldi (MGCF eSports/FRA), Pedro Resende & PHzin (Ajax/NED), and Klinger (Netshoes Miners). PHzin will the captain of the team.

"I'm very happy for being called up and now I'm going to give my best to represent our country", said Paulo on social media. Young, on the other hand, said: "You never forget your first one. Since I was a kid I dreamed of representing the green and yellow. Thank you to all of you who root for me".

Both Paulo and Young have started 2023 in style.

Back in January, , a tournament that kicked off the road to the 1v1 World Cup. Paulo, on the other hand, has won both of the eMLS tournaments that kicked off the season in North America, claiming the League Series 1 and League Series 2 title in February, claiming three consecutive championships after the eMLS Cup last year. In March, Paulo will defend the eMLS Cup in Austin, Texas, at South by Southwest.

This upcoming weekend, both gamers will be playing in the FIFA 23 Global Series (FGS) - Latin America South Qualifier #2 to later compete in the FIFAe World Cup Qualifiers during the week.

Paulo will also represent Atlanta United next week in the most prestigious tournament in South America, the Conmebol eLibertadores in Buenos Aires, Argentina, against the top 16 gamers of the region. Klinger and PHzin will also compete in the eLibertadores representing their respective clubs.
