The Atlanta United U-19s will have the chance to bring home some silverware on Saturday, Dec. 18 when they face Kalonji Pro-Profile for the UPSL Georgia Division championship.
Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. from the MOBA Soccer Complex in Peachtree City, Georgia and the game will be streamed live on Eleven Sports.
A win on Saturday would cap off a brilliant first season for Atlanta in the UPSL after achieving a second-place finish in the regular season standings and securing a first-round playoff bye.
First-year head coach José Silva also earned the distinction of being named UPSL Georgia Coach of the Year prior to Atlanta’s first playoff match.
In the semifinals, Atlanta United handled Atlanta Elephants FC 4-1. Newly signed Atlanta United 2 player David Mejia found the back of the net twice in that match.
Atlanta United will be seeking retribution for their lone previous meeting against Kalonji during the regular season at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground, where the visitors took a 4-2 victory. It was one of just two matches Atlanta lost all season.
Kalonji comes into this game as the top-seeded team in the playoffs and off of a 4-0 victory over Limeño Georgia in the semifinals.
The winner of the matchup, in addition to taking home the UPSL Georgia trophy, will qualify for the UPSL Premier Division Round of 32 en route to the UPSL National Finals which will take place on Feb. 4-6, 2022.
