Fernando Meza loaned out to Defensa y Justicia

Atlanta United today announced it has loaned defender Fernando Meza to Defensa y Justicia of the Argentine Primera Division.


“We appreciate Fernando’s commitment to the club over the last year and wish him well during his loan stint,” Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said.


Meza, 30, joined Atlanta United on Jan. 10, 2020. The Argentine defender started 17 matches across all competitions last season, including 13 during the 2020 MLS Regular Season. Meza has 13 years of professional experience in Argentina, Chile, Mexico and the United States. He joined from Club Tijuana of Liga MX, after spending the 2019 season with Necaxa where he made 39 appearances. Meza has also played for Colo Colo, DC Palestino, San Marcos de Arica, Club Olimpo and San Lorenzo, where he debuted as a professional.


Defensa y Justicia recently opened its 2021 season by defeating Huracán in its first match of the 2021 Copa de la Liga Professional. Defensa is also scheduled to compete in the 2021 Copa Libertadores with group play beginning in April.
