How to watch, listen and stream Toronto FC vs. Atlanta United

Recent Form

After losing to the defending MLS Cup Champions in Columbus, Atlanta United turned the ship around with two strong wins at home. In the home opener, it was a penalty shot from Thiago Almada and a hat trick from Giorgos Giakoumakis that led the 5-Stripes to a 4-1 victory over the New England Revolution. The stellar performance earned Giakoumakis recognition from the league as MLS Player of the Matchday. The good effort in front of 17s continued as Atlanta took on Orlando City SC. Wearing their new Resurgens Kit, the team beat Orlando 2-0. On his 200th appearance as a member of Atlanta United, veteran keeper Brad Guzan collected his eighth clean sheet versus Orlando – the most against any opponent since he joined the squad in 2017. This game marked yet another confident showing from striker Giakoumakis, which landed him on the MLS Team of the Matchday for the second straight week.

Series History and Last Meeting

The two clubs have met a total of 15 times, with the 5-Stripes having a record (W-L-T) of 4-5-6. In the last meeting between them ended in a draw after a late 2-2 equalizer from Toronto. Atlanta dominated in shots on goal and passing accuracy but was not able to get the three points once the game went into stoppage time.

Players to Watch

Saba Lobjanidze (Atlanta United) – Saba Lobjanidze is coming off an impressive performance against Orlando City, opening the game with an early goal. It is safe to say that another solid showing from the Georgian midfielder means good things for the 5-Stripes. His creativity and ability to not only distribute but also score will be something Atlanta needs with six players away on international duty.

Lorenzo Insigne (Toronto FC) – With a new coach at the helm, Toronto’s season has gotten off to a promising start. Italian winger Lorenzo Insigne has a lot to do with Toronto’s early success. Two of their wins have been straight off the back of Insigne’s play. Keeping Insigne at bay and preferably off the scoresheet is step in the right direction for getting a victory in Toronto.
