COPENHAGEN - After an impressive run in the Group Stage and the Round of 16, as the player with the most goals scored, Paulo Neto came into the Quarterfinals of the FIFAe World Cup 2022 as the favorite to advance to the Semifinals. The Atlanta United Brazilian gamer faced his toughest opponent in an impressive two-legged battle vs Emre Yilmaz, of our friend club Team Gullit.
A 2-0 loss in the first leg meant Paulo Neto had to play the game of his life in the second leg. And immediately after the game began, Paulo was able to bounce back and score two quick goals to level the aggregate score, 2-2.
However, some unforced errors in the back cost Paulo Neto the game and Yilmaz managed to score three more goals that gave the Dutch gamer the aggregate lead, 5-2. Paulo scored one more goal in the 65th minute but the impressive defensive prowess of his opponent prevented him from tying the match.
With a final 5-3 aggregate score, Paulo gets eliminated of the FIFAe World Cup 2022 and finishes as one of the Top 8 gamers in the world.
It has been an outstanding 2022 campaign for the Brazilian, who became the eMLS Cup champion back in March, after finishing second in the eMLS League Series 1 and in the top 4 in the eMLS League Series 2 in January. Also in March, Paulo and his Atlanta United FIFAe teammate Vini Leiva won together the Masters Cup, an online competition, and later in April and May both reached as a team the semifinals of the FIFA Global Series Team of the Season Cup (TOTS Cup) in London.
Paulo Neto's FIFAe World Cup run was equally impressive. He finished first in Group A with 28 points after 14 matches, topping seven other gamers, and became the leading scorer of the competition with 35 goals scored. He continued to show his goal scoring abilities in the Round of 16 against French FC Lorient gamer LJR_Peixoto, winning by an aggregate score of 7-2.
He leaves Denmark having left a mark in the FIFAe World Cup and consolidating his name as one of the most experienced and best gamers in the world.
