Starting XI and roster notes: Cayman Togashi leads the lines for Toronto clash

He's waited his turn. Now, it's his time to show what he can do. 

Cayman Togashi is preparing to make his first career MLS start. After making 10 appearances as a substitute for Atlanta United since signing ahead of the 2025 season, the Japanese American forward has a chance to change the match from the first whistle. 

Togashi will start for head coach Tata Martino for the first time since scoring in Atlanta United's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Chattanooga FC April 15. Joining him in the attack will be stand-in captain Alexey Miranchuk and Luke Brennan. 

In defense, it's Lucas Hoyos in goal alongside Matt Edwards, Juan Berrocal, Stian Gregersen and Elías Báez. Edwards continues to fill in for Tomás Jacob as he recovers from a lower leg injury.

The middle of the park features a veteran and two youngsters — Tristan Muyumba, Jay Fortune and Cooper Sanchez. It's the deepest area of the pitch for Atlanta United, and where head coach Tata Martino said he's been impressed so far this season.

-- Alexey Miranchuk captains the 5-Stripes for the fourth match in a row after making his 50th appearance for the club in MLS regular season play Wednesday night. The forward has scored a team-high 4 goals this season. 

-- Atlanta United and Toronto FC have split their MLS regular season matches 5-5-8 (W-L-D) in their history. In those matches, both teams have scored 26 total goals. 

-- Coming into Saturday afternoon's match, the 5-Stripes are seventh in MLS in possession, averaging 53.6% over the course of their first nine matches.

-- Luke Brennan will make his first MLS start of the 2026 season. The Atlanta United Homegrown from the 404 made 6 starts in 14 appearances in MLS play for the 5-Stripes last season. 

-- Miguel Almirón was listed as unavailable on Friday's availability report. Atlanta United's number 10 is dealing with knee irritation after coming off in the club's match against Chattanooga FC April 15.
