Club president Darren Eales took time to speak with Simon Borg at MLSsoccer.com shortly after the team name, Atlanta United FC, was released by SI.com several days before the team's official launch event on July 7.
Eales gave deeper insight into how the name was selected and the meaning it holds for the fans and the city of Atlanta.
"This is a city that can unite behind this club," Eales said to Borg.
The launch event, which will include the team logo unveiling and updates on the organization, will be held as scheduled at SOHO Lounge on July 7 for Founding Members and invited guests.
