Atlanta United, Major League Soccer’s 22nd franchise, has selected architecture and interior design firm tvsdesign to design their new training facility.

The Atlanta United training facility will be located in the Franklin Road Corridor in Marietta. The 33-acre site will consist of six playing fields and a 28,000 square foot facility that will house the first team and academy players along with the club’s executive and soccer operations staff.   The project represents more than $50 million in new investment by Atlanta United to the area and approximately 80 high-paying jobs by 2017.

“We are pleased that tvsdesign is on board to design our new training ground,” said Atlanta United president Darren Eales.  “We are looking forward to working with a local firm that understands the specific design needs of a sports complex, and shares our vision to build a best in class training ground.”

Central to the club’s vision, the design of the facility will ensure an inspirational space for players, staff, visitors and supporters and will foster an open, collaborative environment.   The building will be a representation of Atlanta United’s cultural pillars and will be a flexible space allowing for future growth.

“We are excited to be part of such an historic event in Atlanta’s major league sports history,” said Principal in Charge, Mark Carter. “With a record-breaking season ticket pre-sale, we know that this franchise is already becoming an essential piece of Atlanta’s athletic legacy.”

Atlanta United plans to hold open training sessions and tournaments at the training ground to encourage community involvement and maximize positive impact in the area.

“The guiding theme for this facility is to imagine more. We wanted to design a state-of-the-art smart building that reflects core values of the rising, tech-savvy and environmentally-focused fan base,” said Design Principal Rob O’Keefe. “Atlanta United’s home base needs to suit a wide variety of needs—from those of the players and the employees behind the team to fans and community members. Our firm brings a depth of experience to this complex design, and we’re excited to create a training facility that embodies the essence of Atlanta United’s brand and culture.”
