Atlanta United today officially announced the club has loaned forward Hector “Tito” Villalba to Club Tijuana (Xolos de Tijuana) located in Tijuana, Mexico through December 2016.

Upon receipt of Villalba’s ITC, Atlanta United officially confirmed the loan making him available for selection on Saturday, August 6. The 22-year-old forward was announced as the club’s first young designated player on July 22 from Argentine club San Lorenzo.

“We’re pleased to have Tito on loan with Xolos in the Mexican top division,” said Atlanta United technical director Carlos Bocanegra. “He will be competing in a tough league which will challenge him and keep him sharp. He’ll also have several American teammates and will be in close proximity to the United States which will allow him to begin working on his English language skills.”

Villalba made his professional debut in August 2012 and at only 22-years-old has made over 100 first team appearances for San Lorenzo scoring 16 goals. He was part of the San Lorenzo squads that placed first in the 2013 Primera Division’s Torneo Inicial, the 2014 Copa Libertadores and the 2015 Supercopa Argentina.

Villalba will be added to Atlanta’s roster in January 2017.
