On Thursday night at the Beyond Sports Awards ceremony in New York, Station Soccer received the global honor for "Sport for Innovation and Tech".
Funded through a grant by the Atlanta United Foundation and started in the fall of 2016, Soccer in the Streets has led the programming of Station Soccer in the Atlanta metro area. Taking place at the pitch launched at MARTA Five Points station, the first soccer field to be built inside the perimeter of a major urban transit station in the world, the program focuses on mentoring programs, promoting employability among young people and creating a sustainable, competitive format through adult leagues.
Recognized for its innovative design, inspiring culture and incredible impact on the local community, Station Soccer has set the new precedent for the sport on the global stage.
