Atlanta United 2 is searching for its first road win of the year after falling 4-2 at FC Cincinnati last Saturday, May 5 in Nippert Stadium. ATL UTD 2 traded blows with the Eastern Conference’s top team in a five-goal first half. Atlanta trailed 2-0 after FC Cincinnati scored back-to-back in the 26th and 28th minutes, but the team responded in the 31st minute when Jon Gallagher buried his fourth goal of the season. Cincinnati again made it a two-goal advantage with a goal in the 39th minute, but Atlanta answered two minutes later when Laurent Kissiedou’s scored his first professional goal and trimmed Cincinnati’s lead to one. The home side, however, took a 4-2 advantage it would not relinquish when Emmanuel Ledesma scored his second goal of the night in the 46th minute.
Ottawa Fury FC’s Colin Falvey scored with three minutes to go to lift his side to a 1-0 victory against Penn FC on Monday, May 7 at FNB Field as Fury FC earned its first win of the 2018 season.
Saturday’s match marks the first meeting between ATL UTD 2 and Ottawa Fury FC. Atlanta is in 14th place in the Eastern Conference while Ottawa is in 15th.
