Mauricio Culebro is a seasoned sports industry executive with more than 22 years of progressive leadership experience. Recognized for building strong cultures, designing robust strategic structures, and delivering measurable financial and sporting results, he combines strategic vision with operational excellence and a deep understanding of global football business.

In 2026, Culebro was named President of Soccer, AMB Sports and Entertainment. In his role, Culebro oversees all aspects of Atlanta United of Major League Soccer and Atlanta’s new expansion club in the National Women’s Soccer League, currently named NWSL Atlanta 2028. Additionally, Culebro serves as the organization’s primary liaison for its ongoing partnership with the U.S. Soccer Federation.

Prior to joining AMB Sports and Entertainment, Culebro served as President of Club Tigres UANL, one of Mexico’s most successful men’s and women’s football teams, administered by CEMEX. Reporting directly to the CEMEX board, Culebro maintained oversight of more than 200 staff members across all corporate and sporting functions. Under his leadership, Tigres achieved historic record revenues in 2023, doubled commercial revenue in four years, secured championships in both men’s and women’s teams, expanded its brand into the U.S. market, and strengthened the club’s position as one of Mexico’s top historic institutions. He redesigned the organizational structure, implemented professionalized decision-making processes, transitioned to a data-driven model, executed a full squad renovation aligned with financial sustainability, and established the long-term strategic plan for the club.

Previously, as Chief Operating Officer of the Mexican Football Federation (2019–2021), Culebro tackled long-standing structural challenges within Mexican football. He oversaw national operations, built and strengthened multiple sectors (amateur football, the national educational system, and development programs), and led Mexico’s operational preparation as co-host of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He designed business plans that increased student enrollment by 26%, launched digital education and physical activity programs reaching more than 800,000 children, created innovation and project-management frameworks, and built strategic plans for Mexico’s national teams aiming for top-tier World Cup performance.

Culebro also spent more than 15 years at Club América, Mexico’s most widely followed football club, where he served as President, Operations Vice President, Operations

Director, and General Coordinator. During his presidency, the club achieved historic milestones, including winning the men’s, women’s, and U17 titles in the same tournament for the first time in club history. He executed the largest transfer of a Mexican player in national football history, generated record revenues, opened Club América’s first international office in New York, and built the club’s first-ever Sports Intelligence Department. He also significantly expanded digital reach, taking the club to 17 million social media followers and ranking among the top global football organizations in engagement.

Beyond his executive roles, Culebro is an entrepreneur and co-founder of the Sports Investment Fund (SIF), a private equity fund focused on sports-related investments. He led the capital raise of USD $7M, structured investment opportunities, and executed due diligence across technology and football properties.

Culebro holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Universidad Iberoamericana. His executive education includes programs at Harvard Business School, the Disney Institute, and the Kaplan-Norton Strategy Execution program.
