Derrick Etienne Jr. Guest Stars on Welcome to Flatch

Booked and busy. Just a month after signing with Atlanta United, Derrick Etienne Jr. will make his debut on the small screen on Foxā€™s sitcom ā€œWelcome to Flatch,ā€ Thursday Dec. 8 at 9 p.m. The show revolves around the small town of Flatch and two of its most eccentric residents, Kelly Mallet and Lloyd "Shrub" Mallet. Etienne will make a guest appearance playing himself in the Fox comedy, this role is hopefully the first of many for the Atlanta United midfielder.

ā€œWhen I went there the staff was nice,ā€ Etienne shared during an interview with the morning show Good Day Atlanta, on Thursday morning. ā€œThe actors and actresses were very cool, very calm. It was something I didnā€™t expect this early on itā€™s something Iā€™ve obviously dreamed about off the field but, to be in that predicament that early it was amazing and hopefully it comes out nice.ā€

Etienne is no stranger to the spotlight. As a player heā€™s used to the loud crowds and support, but film and television also interest him off the pitch. The Haitian National Team player shared how he came to find interest in television and how he hopes to pursue that avenue after soccer.

ā€œIn high school, I did a video production,ā€ Etienne said. ā€œSo I was behind the camera, a lot did a couple of skits and all that stuff in school. That's something I always caught my eye and then off season most of the time, Iā€™m behind the camera recording, recording my family with whatever crazy things we have going on. So, Iā€™m comfortable in front of the camera, hopefully that translates in the future, but right now, Iā€™m just focused on winning.ā€

Catch Etienne Thursday Dec. 8 at 9 pm on ā€œWelcome to Flatchā€ on Fox and secure your tickets to the 2023 season today!
