Matt DeJianne named Academy Player of the Month for September

U-16 striker Matt DeJianne has been named the Academy Player of the Month for September.

Nominated by U-16 head coach and former Atlanta United midfielder Kevin Kratz, Matt has been an impact player throughout his five years with Atlanta United.

“Matt is a hard-working player and represents the core values of the club,” Kratz said.

Last season, Matt led the U-15s in scoring with 13 goals in 22 matches, recording four assists in the process.

He’s proven to be a lethal finisher, opening this season with a four-goal performance against Southern Soccer Academy (SSA) on September 4.

“He has a good understanding of the game and a feeling for where he has to be in front of the goal,” Kratz said. “That, along with his work rate, allows him to be very effective in the final third.”

In the first four matches of the 2021/22 season, Matt has already amassed six goals and looks to add to his tally on Saturday when the U-16s meet SSA at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground.
