Atlanta United today announced it has signed midfielder Giuliano Galoppo on loan from River Plate through June 30, 2027 with an option for a permanent transfer. Galoppo will occupy an international roster spot pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.
“Giuliano is a dynamic midfielder who has a good tactical understanding of the game, quality on the ball and the ability to contribute goals from midfield,” Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson said. “He can play multiple positions in midfield and will raise the level of competition within the group as we continue to strengthen our roster heading into the final stretch of the season.”
The 27-year-old has made 194 professional appearances and contributed 39 goals and eight assists across spells with Banfield, São Paulo and River Plate, competing in Argentina’s Liga Profesional, Brazil’s Série A and continental competitions including Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.
Galoppo began his youth career with Atlético de Rafaela and Boca Juniors before developing at Banfield, where he made his professional debut on Nov. 25, 2018. He went on to become a key contributor for Banfield, recording 21 goals and three assists in 86 appearances in all competitions.
In 2022, Galoppo transferred to Brazilian club São Paulo FC, where he tallied 10 goals and four assists in 60 appearances in all competitions. Galoppo tallied a career-high eight goals and added two assists in 10 matches in Campeonato Paulista play in 2023. During his time with São Paulo, the club captured the 2023 Copa do Brasil and the 2024 Supercopa do Brasil, the first major trophies of his professional career.
Galoppo returned to Argentina in January of 2025, joining River Plate initially on loan before making the move permanent in January of 2026, totaling eight goals and one assist in 48 appearances. He scored five goals and added an assist in 12 matches during the 2025 Clausura season and scored his first goal in Copa Libertadores, making five appearances during the 2025 edition of South America’s top club competition. He made nine appearances and scored one goal in 2026 Apertura league play.
