TThis year the club has teamed up with Ri Ra Irish Pub and Fado Irish Pub, two of our Official Pub Partners, for the holiday tradition. Join us for English Premier League soccer games, with all attendees encouraged to bring a gently-used scarf and in return you will receive a 2019 Atlanta United Boxing Day Scarf. Donations will be accepted until noon and all scarves exchanged will be donated to Covenant House Georgia.
Covenant House Georgia provides more than a bed and a meal for homeless and trafficked youth; they show unconditional love and give comprehensive support. Covenant House Georgia empowers youth to finish high school, start college, gain employment, live independently, and ultimately step out into the world knowing they are prepared to be successful.
What is Boxing Day?
Most commonly celebrated at its origins in the U.K., Boxing Day is a religious holiday recognized the day after Christmas (December 26th). A day which started out as a European tradition of donating money and “boxes” of clothing, materials, etc. to the less fortunate has now also become a celebration of soccer with matches played throughout the day.
Boxing Day has now become a fixture for soccer fans across the globe as they tune in to support clubs from the Premier League and the three professional tiers below. With almost every team competing on Boxing Day it has become tradition to come together as supporters and enjoy a day of soccer and community.
So bring your scarves, watch Premier League matches and join Atlanta United staff and supporters to celebrate the beautiful game.
