Atlanta United Acquire Anton Walkes on loan from Tottenham Hotspur

Walkes Announcement

Atlanta United today announced it has signed center back Anton Walkes on loan from Tottenham Hotspur FC of the English Premier League. Walkes, a Discovery Signing, debuted for Spurs earlier this season on Sept. 21 during the Third Round of EFL Cup and will be added to Atlanta’s roster pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.

“Anton has a bright future and we’re thrilled to have him continue his development at our club,” Atlanta United president Darren Eales said. “He’s a young player who’s already been part of the first team squad at Spurs, featuring often throughout the summer until his official debut in the League Cup in September. He’ll be a welcome addition to our club.”

Walkes, 19, was born in Lewisham, England and spent his entire youth career with Tottenham Hotspur. His run with the senior team began last summer, appearing against Juventus during the International Champions Cup in Melbourne, Australia. Walkes then earned a start at center back the following game against Atletico Madrid. He’s gone on to make 12 appearances for Tottenham’s reserves in Premier League 2 this season and he recently made his senior team debut against Gillingham, subbing on for the final 10 minutes during a 5-0 win in the Third Round of EFL Cup.
