With the start of the 2024 season right around the corner, it is no surprise that the month of February is not only a busy month for Atlanta United FC, but also for fans of the club as well.
Scarf of the Month celebrates Black History
Atlanta United is always looking for ways to not only drive forward the culture, but also celebrate it. February's scarf of the month is in celebration of Black History Month. Go down to Atlantic Station to pick one up before they sell out!
Preseason Games Galore
Though the beginning of the clubās preseason started the last weekend of January, a 2-1 victory over Birmingham Legion FC, the bulk of the 5-Stripesā preseason games are in February. The only friendly Atlanta United is playing in Georgia is at the Turner Sports Complex at the University of Georgia on Saturday Feb. 3Ā and will be streamed live on atlutd.com/live.
The team then heads out on the road to Florida, where they will play in Tampa against CF MontrƩal and the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The last stop for preseason will be in Miami against Sporting KC on Saturday, Feb. 17

Season Opener on Saturday, February 24
Perhaps the biggest event in February comes towards the end of the month: the first regular season game of the 2024 season. Like any start to a new season, there is excitement for what is to come. But with the new faces like Derrick Williams and Bartosz Slisz on the team, fans of the Five Stripes have even more to look forward to.
The first regular season game will be against familiar foe, the Columbus Crew, on Saturday, Feb. 24. The club will be going to Lower.com Field, home of the defending MLS Cup Champion, in hopes to play spoil sport and gain some momentum to start the new season. The 2:00 p.m match will mark the 20th meeting between the two teams. Atlanta United has won seven of those matches, and three of them have ended in a draw.

Olympic Qualifying Matches
The 2024 Olympics, held in Paris, is just around the corner. It is no surprise with the talent on the clubās roster that players from Atlanta United could have a chance to represent their countries in July.
The CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament is held from January 20 ā February 11 and takes place in Venezuela. The tournament not only gives a chance to see young talent, but it also decides which two out of the eight South American countries will qualify for the Olympics.
Atlanta United midfielder Thiago Almada is currently representing his home country of Argentina as they look for another Olympic appearance. The 22-year-old ended the 2023 MLS season with 11 goals and 19 assists, which led to him winning the MLS Young Player of the Year Award; the annual award given to the top player 22 and younger. He also finished third in MLS MVP voting.
As of January 31, Argentina has qualified for the final stages of the tournament. Almada scored two highlight reel goals in Argentina's 5-0 win against Chile.
Sunday, Feb. 4 - FIFA World Cup news
Atlanta is set to be one of the host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. More specifically, Mercedes-Benz Stadium will hold clubs and fans from all over the world.
Host city allocations were announced on the fourth during a live special program airing on FOX and Telemundo in the USA.Ā Atlanta will host eight FIFA matches, including one of the semifinals.
