As a part of March to Soccer, Atlanta United teamed up with Leesa Sleep to donate 227 mattresses, sheets and fan-donated toiletries to Atlanta Mission’s Women’s & Children’s’ Shelter “My Sister’s House.” Spear-headed by Atlanta United goalkeeper Brad Guzan, with the help of Atlanta United midfielder Julian Gressel, ATL UTD 2 defenders AJ Cochran and Jack Metcalf and AMB Sports & Entertainment volunteers, participants delivered the donated mattresses, served dinner and played with children at the shelter on Monday.

“I’ve been very fortunate to not only team up with Leesa Sleep but also Atlanta Mission who does great work for the community here in Atlanta,” Guzan said. “When this whole thing started to come together we weren’t really sure where it was going to go, but it came together with help from Leesa Sleep and Atlanta Mission.  This partnership gives us the opportunity to give back to the community, and that’s what it’s all about.”

Leesa Sleep makes it their mission to aid organizations that are helping members of their local communities reach stability and eventually success. Leesa donates one mattress for every 10 sold, and has provided more than 24,000 mattresses to-date to nonprofits that serve people seeking refuge from homelessness, domestic risk and human trafficking.  In the company’s first project in Atlanta, Leesa, along with Atlanta United, West Elm and Atlanta Mission’s Women’s & Children’s Shelter “My Sister’s House,” are working together to ensure any woman or mother experiencing homelessness in or around the Atlanta area has help available to them.

Atlanta United hosts D.C. United on Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m. in the team’s 2018 home opener at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The match will also be nationally televised on ESPN.
