Atlanta United trades Romario Williams to Columbus Crew SC, acquires $100,000 in General Allocation Money

Atlanta United announced today it has traded forward Romario Williams to Columbus Crew SC in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money.


Williams, 24, has made a combined 19 MLS appearances over the past two seasons with Atlanta and scored one goal. He made a career-high 17 MLS appearances in 2018, while scoring his first career MLS goal on April 7 against LAFC. In U.S. Open Cup play, Williams made three starts, scored two goals and recorded one assist. Williams joined Atlanta United in December 2016 and played the entire 2016 and 2017 seasons on loan with the Charleston Battery where he was the club’s leading scorer both seasons and was named to the USL Second Team in 2017.


“Romario helped bring a championship to the city of Atlanta and will always be a part of the club’s first title-winning team,” said Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra. “We are grateful to Romario for his contribution to the club and wish him the very best for the future.”
