Atlanta United History: 2014-2016
April 16 - Major League Soccer awards an expansion team to the city of Atlanta, with Arthur M. Blank as the Club owner.
September 10 - Darren Eales becomes the club’s first employee and President.
March 2 - Carlos Bocanegra is announced as Technical Director
July 7 – The club reveal the official colors, crest and the name “Atlanta United FC” at SoHo Lounge in Midtown Atlanta.
August 24 - Arthur M. Blank Sports & Entertainment announce Mercedes-Benz as the new stadium naming rights partner. Mercedes-Benz Stadium will become the home for Atlanta United and the Atlanta Falcons.
April 14 - Atlanta United name former Premier League player Richard Money as the club's first Academy Director.
April 18 - Atlanta United announce the construction of the club's training ground in Marietta, Georgia.
June 9 - Andrew Carleton signs as the club’s first homegrown player
July 12 - American Family Insurance is announced as Atlanta United's first kit sponsor
July 6- Paraguayan attacker Héctor “Tito” Villalba signs as Atlanta United's first Designated Player

September 27 – Argentinean Gerardo “Tata” Martino introduced as club’s first head coach, after having managed a handful of clubs in his home country, and more recently FC Barcelona and the Argentina National Team.
November 16 – The club's first kit, the 5-Stripes Kit, is revealed at the Tabernacle.

December 11 – 32-year old defender Michael Parkhurst signs with the club in a trade with Columbus Crew. He would become Atlanta United’s first captain
