February 26 - Atlanta United introduce the BLVCK KIT in honor of the fifth season of the club

April 8 - The club signs Argentinean defender Alan Franco as a Designated Player from Club Atlético Independiente.

June 3 – Former Premier League Welsh player Jack Collison becomes ATL UTD 2 head coach.

June 17 - Atlanta United present the Unity Kit as the club's third kit, that features 13 messages of unity in 11 global languages that pay homage to the power of the beautiful game and its power to unite all people. The Unity Kit won the American Advertising Federation ADDY Award creative “Best in Show” in 2021.

July 18 - Atlanta United part ways with Gabriel Heinze and assistant coach Rob Valentino is named interim manager.

August 5 - Brazilian winger Luiz Araújo joins the club as a Designated Player from French Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille.

August 12 - Mexican Gonzalo Pineda is named Atlanta United’s head coach following an impressive playing career in Mexico and MLS, and five seasons as assistant coach at the Seattle Sounders.

September 29 - Josef Martínez scores his 100th goal with Atlanta United vs Inter Miami CF, in all competitions, becoming the fastest player in MLS history to do so, and the first one for the club.

November 17 - Atlanta United signs Brazilian Vini to become the second eSports gamer, creating the first eSports team for the club, alongside Paulo Neto.

2022

January 30 – The club sends Ezequiel Barco on loan to Argentina’s River Plate.

January 31 - Defender George Bello becomes the first Atlanta United homegrown in history to be transferred to an European club, as he signs for Arminia Bielefeld of the German Bundesliga.

February 9 - Argentinean midfielder Thiago Almada signs with the club as Designated Player from Vélez Sarsfield.

February 19 - The club introduces a new secondary kit, The Forest Kit, in honor of Atlanta being nicknamed the "City in the Forest".

March 13 - Atlanta United becomes eMLS Cup Champion after Paulo Neto defeats D.C. United’s KingCJ10 in the final.

March 28 - The first GA100 pitch opens in Brunswick, Georgia. The GA100 is an initiative by the Atlanta United Foundation (AUF) and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) looking to build up to 100 mini-pitches across the state of Georgia, leading into the 2026 World Cup.

April 16 - Atlanta United delivers on its promise to build a Founding Members Wall at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The wall located near Soccer Ball Plaza at the stadium has the names of each person who became a Founding Member back in 2017. It was unveiled on the eighth anniversary of Atlanta being awarded an MLS expansion team.

June 16 - Atlanta, Georgia is selected as a host city for the FIFA World Cup™ 2026.

August 4 - Atlanta United announces that their affiliate team, ATL UTD 2, will no longer play in the USL but instead will launch a new team in the MLS Next Pro - a league for MLS affiliate clubs.

August 11 - Atlanta United Digital team releases 'Brick by Brick', a three-part documentary following Brad Guzan's pathway to recovery following an ACL injury.

August 24 - Darren Eales departs as club President to become CEO of the Premier League club Newcastle United

October 23 - Brazilian gamer Young is announced as the second eSports gamer for the club replacing Vini.

November 18 - Thiago Almada gets called up by the Argentina National Team to replace injured Joaquín Correa in the FIFA World Cup 2022 squad. Almada would go on to play some minutes in the group stage match against Poland and become the first-ever MLS active player to be World Cup champion.
